We all came out to Montreux on the Lake Geneva shoreline
To make records with a Mobile - We didn't have much time
Frank Zappa & the Mothers were at the best place around
But some stupid with a flare gun burned the place to the ground

Smoke on the water - A fire in the sky

They burned down the gambling house - It died with an awful sound
Funky & Claude was running in and out, pulling kids out of the ground
When it all was over, we had to find another place
Swiss time was running out - It seemed that we would lose the race

We ended up at the Grand Hotel - It was empty, cold and bare
But with the Rolling Truck Stones Thing just outside making our music there
With a few red lights and a few old beds, we made a place to sweat
No matter what we get out of this, I know... I know we'll never forget

우린 모두 다 제네바 호수 기슭에 있는 몽트뢰로 갔어
모빌 스튜디오에서 녹음을 하려고 말야 - 우리에겐 시간이 얼마 없었어
프랭크 재파 앤 마더즈 밴드는 일대에서 가장 멋진 곳에 있었어
그런데 그곳이 그만 조명탄 총을 가진 한 멍청이 땜에 불이 나 폭삭해버렸어

도박장은 불길에 내려앉았어 - 무시무시한 소릴 내며 스러져갔지
펑키와 클라우드가 들락날락 뛰어다니며 아이들을 밖으로 끌어냈어
모든 상황이 종료됐을 때, 우린 다른 장소를 찾아야했어
하지만 스위스 시간은 거의 다 돼가고 -  우린 경주에서 질 것 같았어

우린 그랜드 호텔에서 일을 끝냈어 - 거긴 사람도 별 없고 썰렁하니 추웠어
하지만 우린 바로 밖에 있는 롤링 트럭 스톤즈에서 우리 음악을 만들었어
몇 안 되는 붉은 전등과 낡은 침대들, 우린 땀 흘려 열심히 일했어
우리가 이걸 빠져나간다 해도... 난 알아, 우리가 절대 잊지 못하리란 걸
